Albania: ALPEX day-ahead electricity trading reaches 197.4 GWh in February

The Albanian electricity exchange ALPEX reported that the total volume of electricity traded on its day-ahead market reached 197.44 GWh in February 2026. This represents an increase of 5.6 % compared to January 2026 and a significant 138.6 % rise compared to February 2025, highlighting the continued growth of electricity trading activity within the exchange.

Out of the total traded volume, 123.6 GWh of electricity was traded in the Kosovo bidding zone, while 126.7 GWh was recorded in the Albania bidding zone. The average market clearing price stood at 58.87 euros/MWh in Albania and 61.17 euros/MWh in Kosovo, with the overall ALPEX average price reaching 60.02 euros/MWh during the month.

The total value of transactions carried out on ALPEX in February amounted to approximately 23.1 million euros, representing a 13.5 % decrease compared to the same period last year, despite the increase in traded volumes.

ALPEX was established in October 2020 by the Albanian electricity transmission system operator OST and its Kosovo counterpart KOSTT. The exchange organized its first auction for the Albanian market in April 2023 and currently counts 36 members participating across the Albania and Kosovo bidding zones.
