Electricity trading on Albania’s ALPEX day-ahead market increased in August, reaching 244.5 GWh. Volumes were up 8% from July and 39.6% year on year. Trading for the Albanian bidding zone totalled 166.2 GWh, with an average market-clearing price of €146.88/MWh.
The value of transactions reached about €67.4 million, representing a 73.5% year-on-year increase. The growth in transaction value outpaced the rise in physical volumes. Wholesale electricity prices remained elevated during the period.
The data point to a larger role for organised exchange trading in Albania as liquidity develops and regional market integration progresses.
