North Macedonia: Electricity trading volume rises year on year while prices decline in April 2026

In April 2026, the total volume of electricity traded on North Macedonia’s day-ahead power exchange reached 117,727.5 MWh, marking a 6.8% increase compared to 97,069 MWh recorded in the same month last year. However, trading activity declined on a monthly basis, with volumes falling 14% compared to March.

The electricity market operator MEMO reported that the average market-clearing price for April 2026 stood at €87.8/MWh, representing a 7.5% decrease compared to the previous month.

Average daily trading volume during the month amounted to 3,924.3 MWh, reflecting steady but moderate liquidity in the market. The peak price for April 2026 reached €57.8/MWh, indicating relatively contained price volatility during the observed period.

North Macedonia’s electricity exchange was officially established in May 2023, and continues to develop as a relatively new but increasingly active component of the regional power trading landscape.
