Romania’s average day-ahead electricity price rose to €151.16/MWh in August, up 25.82% from July and 93.07% from a year earlier, highlighting the sharp tightening of regional power markets during the summer.
July’s average baseload price was €120.14/MWh.
Day-ahead trading volume reached 1.188 million MWh, around 1.1% below August 2025 but slightly above July. The average hourly traded volume was 1,597.4 MWh.
The higher price pushed the value of day-ahead transactions to €179.6 million, up from €143.3 million in July and €97.1 million a year earlier.
Romania’s intraday market showed an even sharper price increase. Around 120,528 MWh changed hands during August at an average €141.04/MWh, up 37.5% month on month and more than double the level recorded a year earlier. Intraday volumes fell 13.1% from July and 26.4% year on year.
The source also gives a 31.41% day-ahead share of forecast net consumption but labels that figure as August 2025 rather than 2026.
