In May 2026, the Hungarian energy exchange HUPX recorded an increase in electricity prices on its day-ahead market, with the average price reaching 106.51 euros/MWh. This represents a rise of 10.3% compared to April, when the average baseload price stood at 96.55 euros/MWh, indicating a stronger pricing environment during the month.

On the peak load segment, the average HUPX DAM price reached 62.16 euros/MWh, marking a more moderate increase of 2.9% month-on-month. The figures suggest that while overall market prices strengthened, peak-hour dynamics remained relatively more stable.

Trading activity on the day-ahead market showed a slight decline compared to the previous month. The total traded volume amounted to 2.59 million MWh, which is 6.3% lower than in April, when volumes reached 2.44 million MWh.
