Hungary: HUPX electricity prices drop sharply in April 2026 amid lower demand and trading volumes

The average electricity price on the day-ahead market of the Hungarian power exchange HUPX stood at €96.55/MWh in April 2026, representing a decline of 17.8% compared to the previous month, when the average baseload price was €117.4/MWh.

The average DAM peak price on HUPX amounted to €60.43/MWh in April, which is 41.6% lower than in March.

Trading volume on the day-ahead market reached 2.44 million MWh, down 12.7% month-on-month from 2.79 million MWh, and 2% lower year-on-year compared to April 2025 (2.49 million MWh).

Total trading volume on the intraday continuous market amounted to 1,087,209 MWh in April 2026, marking a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the previous month.

In April 2026, there were 120 registered members on the day-ahead market (four more than in the previous month), while the intraday continuous market counted 112 registered members.
