A total of 2,585,059.9 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) in April 2026, representing an 8% decrease compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume in April stood at 86,168.7 MWh. However, compared to the same month last year, traded volumes were 11.7% higher, indicating stronger year-on-year market activity.
The average baseload price on the day-ahead market in April was €90.99/MWh, which is 12% lower than in March (€103.54/MWh). The average peak price declined significantly to €57.5/MWh, marking a sharp 31% monthly decrease.
A total of 153 registered participants were active on the IBEX day-ahead market, unchanged from the previous month, reflecting stable market participation.
On the intraday continuous market, a total of 826,338.4 MWh was traded, up 10% month-on-month, with an average weighted price of €65.7/MWh, a 25.5% decrease compared to March. This also represents a record monthly traded volume for the intraday segment, highlighting the growing importance of short-term trading and volatility management in the market.
