North Macedonia’s day-ahead electricity exchange recorded 150,360.8 MWh of traded volume in July 2026, marking an increase from both the previous month and the same period last year, according to market operator MEMO.
Trading volume was 9.6% higher than in June and 1.3% above the 135,072 MWh recorded in July 2025. Average daily turnover reached 4,850.3 MWh, highlighting continued growth in exchange-based electricity trading.
At the same time, the market-clearing price increased significantly. The average price reached EUR 105.83/MWh, representing a 12.9% increase compared with June. MEMO also reported a July peak-price indicator of EUR 73.40/MWh.
North Macedonia launched its day-ahead electricity exchange in May 2023, as part of efforts to strengthen market-based electricity trading and improve integration with regional power markets.
The latest data indicate that exchange activity continues to expand, with more electricity being traded through the organised market. However, the increase in the clearing price also points to higher costs for market participants securing electricity during July.
The combination of higher trading volumes and rising prices highlights the continued development of North Macedonia’s wholesale electricity market, while also underscoring the importance of stronger regional integration and greater liquidity as the market matures.
