During the week of April 6, solar photovoltaic energy production increased across most major European markets. The German market recorded the largest rise at 32%, continuing its upward trajectory for the second consecutive week. Italy followed with a 22% increase, while France saw an 18% gain. In contrast, the Iberian Peninsula experienced a reversal of this trend, with photovoltaic production declining by 6.1% in Spain and 12% in Portugal.
Throughout the week, several key markets achieved notable production records. On April 7, Italy reached its second-highest April daily output at 146 GWh. Germany and France set all-time April highs on April 8 and 9, generating 426 GWh and 136 GWh, respectively. Meanwhile, Spain and Portugal recorded their second-highest April production levels on April 10, with 200 GWh and 22 GWh.
Looking ahead to the week of April 13, forecasts from AleaSoft Energy Forecasting suggest an increase in photovoltaic production in Italy and Spain, while Germany is expected to experience a decline.
In the wind energy sector, production trends varied significantly during the second week of April. Portugal saw a sharp rebound, with a 79% increase following two weeks of decline. Conversely, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy continued their downward trend for the second consecutive week. Spain recorded the smallest decrease at 20%, while Italy experienced the most significant drop at 60%. Germany and France also reported notable reductions of 27% and 38%, respectively.
For the third week of April, wind energy forecasts indicate a potential recovery in Italy, while the remaining analyzed markets are expected to face further declines in wind energy production, AleaSoft reports.
